by

The Sun Devil Softball team are gearing up for the 2008 Kajikawa Classic this weekend and plan to partner up with SSBTR, Special Olympics and Make-A-Wish to spread the word about the programs ASU Softball has strong connections with.

Student Supporting Brain Tumor Research (SSBTR) is one that is held close to the Sun Devils as a memeber of the 2008 squad, freshman Dani Rae Lougheed was diagnosed with a brain tumor in July 2006, which she had two surgeries to repair. SSBTR is an organizatoin that raises funds for the Brain Tumor Society, which is a national nonprofit that exsists to find a cure for brain tumors.

SSBTR will be participating at the Kajikawa Classic where they will be running the beer concession stand at Tempe Sports Complex where 25% of the net proceeds will go to SSBTR. In addition, they will be promoting their 7th annual SSBTR Walk-a-thon taking place on Saturday, February 23 from 12 p.m.-3 p.m. at Pinnacle High School. For more information on SSBTR or the Walk-A-Thon please go to http://ssbtr.org or e-mail admin@ssbtr.org

In addition to SSBTR, the Special Olympics and Make-A-Wish Foundation will also be on-hand at Tempe Sports Complex throughout the Kajikawa Classic this weekend promoting and raising funds for their non-profit organizations. ASU Softball has worked hand-in-hand with both organizations for the past few years and hope to support their endeavors!
