by

Former Arizona State University standout gymnast Jackie Brummer has been named to the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2009. Brummer, along with the entire 2009 class, will be enshrined in October at HSBC Arena.

Coached by John Spini, Brummer was a three-time NCAA Champion for the Arizona State women’s gymnastics team. In 1984, she became ASU’s third individual NCAA Champion in gymnastics with a first-place finish on the uneven bars. Brummer won the NCAA all-around title in 1986, the only Sun Devil to do so, along with the balance beam title. In all, Brummer was a five-time All-American for the Sun Devils and helped lead her team to two runner-up NCAA finishes.

The Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame honors those who have enhanced the lives of Western New Yorkers with their performances and commitment to Western New York sports. Brummer was inducted into the Arizona State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996.
