Whitaker receives Glendale MLK award

Matthew Whitaker, associate professor of history in ASU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, is the recipient of the Promoting Inclusiveness Award presented by the city of Glendale. The award is given to recipients in recognition of accomplishments and significant contributions to creating a compassionate and inclusive community based on the vision, values and beliefs of Martin Luther King Jr.

The award will be presented at Glendale’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Day Luncheon, "Embracing Our Differences for Community Excellence," held at 11:30 a.m., Jan. 16 at the Glendale Civic Center. The keynote speaker will be Kweisi Mfume, former U.S. senator and past president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
